Broadway Outdoor Power Equipment opens

A new lawn equipment dealer and repair business has opened on East Broadway.

Ken Yopp opened Broadway Outdoor Power Equipment last week in the former Village Discount Craft Supplies building at 2013 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, Tennessee.

“I’ve done mower repairs in Blount County for 28 years,” Yopp said.

After purchasing the building, Yopp did extensive remodeling. This included putting in a foundation and building a wall, tearing out the old wooden flooring and installing 700 tons of rock to fill in a five-foot hole under the floor.

Brands of equipment the new store carries include MTDPro, MTD, American Yard Products, Husqvarna, Murray, Poulan, Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Kawasaki and Troy Built.

Yopp said he is “getting product in every day. We stock most parts for mowers, trimmers and blowers.”

They also repair most mowers, including Sears and Snapper.

The parts include such items as trimmer line, oil, tires, batteries, cables, sealant and spark plugs.

Also working in the business, besides Yopp, are Robert Sutera, Michael Howell and Dennis Everett.

Business hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday and closed Sunday.

Yopp said business “is slowly improving out this way.”
